Food sorting
Asylum seekers helped by Norwich churches

Individuals from seven different Norwich churches and a team from St Thomas's church worked together yesterday (December 21) to help City Saints in Action pack and deliver over 90 Christmas food hampers.

The food hampers were given to Asylum seekers housed in Norwich and other families that are struggling this Christmas. Some food came from Foodbank, some came from the City Saints collection of food from the NewDay event on the Norfolk show ground in August and wonderful fresh produce was given by the Buckingham Emergency Food Appeal, largely donated by local farmers.

Each asylum seeker also received a small financial gift in a card provided by Kings Community Church from their rememberance day collection for victims of violence.

Food sortedCarrie Sant from City Saints in Action said, "It was great to have children involved too,  Tommy, Niamh, Angus, Obi, Thomas and Harry all worked hard packing vegetables and then helped to deliver the hampers with their parents."
