Website awards open to Norfolk churches

2009: Does your church have a good website? Why not enter the Church Website of the Year Awards 2009 which recognise the best local, regional and national church websites, as well as the best blog, youth website and most innovative site.

The competition, which is being run by Surefish.co.uk in association with the Church Times, will recognise the voluntary work put in by thousands of people in the UK in designing, publishing and maintaining a church website.

Websites offer regular church goers, visitors and those new to an area an insight into the life and work of the church, and is one of the best and cheapest ways of promoting the location of the church, its activities, special events and regular services.

This competition not only recognises the websites of local churches, but regional areas, such as synods, dioceses and connexions, and the national websites of churches and denominations.

Anyone can nominate a website for an award. Most of the awards will be shortlisted and judged by a panel of experts but the winner of the 2009 Local Church Website of the Year will be voted for by visitors to the Surefish.co.uk website after a shortlisting process.

Websites will be shortlisted on the basis of design, ease of use, navigation, use of images, quality of content, search results ranking, engagement with new visitors to the site, use of technology, regularity of updates and the best use of internet technology where appropriate.

The closing date for nominations is May 26th, 2009. The awards will be presented in June at a lunch at the offices of Christian Aid.
