South Norfolk church expands into town centre

Number 7 opening2011: A South Norfolk church is celebrating the opening of its new town centre base in Diss which offers counselling, prayer and practical help to the community.

A first floor office in Diss has been turned into a community resource by the DC3 Diss Community Christian Church.

The "Number 7" centre will offer free counselling on bereavement, budgeting and pregnancy advice. It will also be open on weekdays as a prayer room [pictured] and will be the base for street pastors who work in the town centre on Friday nights.

The centre will enable church members to meet the needs of the community including offering practical services such as DIY, ironing, cleaning and shopping for people who need help with these tasks.

number 7 prayer roomNumber 7, named after its address on Mere Street above Costa Coffee, aims to be a friendly and helpful presence in the town.

Graham Blake, leader of DC3, said the church was keen to provide more support in the community. “I think there is such a need for these sorts of things and we get so many referrals. It is a neutral place and it is easily accessible and you do not have to cross the threshold of a church door.”
