Norfolk Christian League season kicks off with 44 teams
The Norfolk Christian Football League has kicked off a new season with 44 teams in five different divisions, including a number of new youth sides and has a new league secretary. League chairman, Mike Culwick, reports.
After the disappointment of seeing
England sent home early in the world cup, our spirits are raised as we kick off a new season of the Norfolk Christian Football league.
There were several enquiries from new teams that wanted to enter the league which was very encouraging but unfortunately a few fell by the wayside. But we do welcome
Surlingham Tornadoes, Old Catton Junior FC and
Worstead Wolves to the U10 league, all supported by their local churches, giving us nine teams in the league.
In the U12 league we have six teams with
Stoke United and
Heigham Park Rangers moving up from the U10s
In the U14 league there are eight teams and we welcome
New Buckenham Junior FC for the first time and
Heartsease entering two teams.
The U16 have ten teams in the league with
Heigham Park, St Johns and
Lighthouse [Sheringham] with two teams each, so lots of local derbys to play.
The adult league has shrunk from 14 to 11 teams, which means just one division instead of two this season.
The adult league kicked off on Saturday September 6, followed by the U12, U14 and U16 on September 13, with the U10 league on September 20.
