Matthew Project red nose bake off & cake sale

The Matthew Project Youth Team had a large turnout for their Comic Relief bake off and cake sale on Thursday March 12, 2015 raising money for the red nose day appeal.

matthewprojectstarbakerHosted by the Virgin Money Lounge in Norwich the event also allowed the team to promote the work of The Matthew Project, the local drug and alcohol charity, and their newly funded Comic Relief Life Coaching Project.

The event saw staff, family, friends and supporters of the organisation enjoying a wide variety of homemade refreshments, a raffle with prizes donated by Norwich City Football Club, Cath Kidston and staff members not forgetting the ‘Star Baker’s’ cake from the Bake Off competition. The children, ‘Mini Star Bakers’ were also catered for with their very own area to decorate cakes.

Esther Heybourne, Youth Team Manager said, “We are so pleased with the support we received from those who attended the event, and especially grateful to the Virgin Money Lounge for hosting us. Congratulations to our ‘Star Baker’ Ally Williams, unity staff member here at The Matthew Project. We would also like to thank all those who donated cakes to our sale.

Today we have been able to raise the profile of our new Life Coaching service as well as give back to Comic Relief to continue funding projects like ours, meeting the needs of young people and others.

We are so excited to be working with Comic Relief over the next 3 years supporting young adults aged 16-24 years across Norfolk within streams of health, wellbeing and drugs & alcohol. We believe passionately in supporting people holistically to reach their goals and live fulfilling lives. This project will allow us to do just that.”
