Football match to honour Norwich champion Tim Stapleford 

Tim StaplefordCFA special memorial football match in honour of Norwich young people’s champion Tim Stapleford is to take place on Saturday October 15 and will raise funds for a project which he set up.

Tim (pictured right) was the inspiration behind the launch of the youth divisions of the Norfolk Christian Football League and, as a tribute, the league and its teams will come together on October 15 in a special match at the FDC 'Field of Dreams', at Bowthorpe.

Billed at Holy Trinity Vs. Rest of the League, players and supporters are warmly welcomed along to take part of watch the match, which kicks off at 10am (players to meet at 9.15am). Tim was closely associated with the Holy Trinity team for which he both played and managed.

Money raised at the event will be going towards the Jenny Lind Park Young People's Work, a venture to which Tim committed endless time and energy. Players’ match fees will be £5 and spectators £2 (paid on entry to the ground).

League chairman, Mike Culwick said: “We would love to see as many people as possible at the game to support the great work that continues to be done through the Jenny Lind project started by Tim several years ago. Tim has been an inspiration to so many of us in the Christian League and his desire to proclaim the gospel is at the heart of all that we do.”

Match organiser, Tom Woods, said: “A hospitality hut will be there with drinks, cakes and biscuits for sale, if people are able to bake any cakes and biscuits for this, this would be greatly appreciated.

Players need to be aged 16 and over and should turn up with football kit: Shorts, socks, shin pads and boots (shirts will be provided), contact Tom with any queries.
