Church run Wymondham cafe refreshes body and soul

A church-run community cafe in Wymondham will be celebrating its first anniversary in September and plans to continue to offer a listening ear, friendly faces and excellent food.
 

Wymondham Baptist Church runs Roots Community Cafe in the town are pleased with the success of the cafe in its first year. They hope to continue to welcome their regular visitors as well as inviting others through their doors.
 
The cafe is run by volunteers and aims to reach out to those in Wymondham who are lonely and need someone to listen to them. Eve Cooper, a volunteer at the cafe said, “We know that many locally are struggling with loneliness and felt that God was calling us to open our doors to the community to listen.”

Alongside friendship and a listening ear, customers to the cafe can affordable drinks, snacks, cakes and light lunches to refresh the body as well as the soul.

Roots Community Cafe opens from 10am – 1pm on Mondays and Fridays and is incredibly popular with people of all ages, including parents who can enjoy a coffee and piece of cake while their children play with the toys and books available.

Throughout the year the cafe has been involved in many local projects including vintage day, Wynterfest, Easter egg hunts and music festivals. It is truly a community enterprise, as the cafe team link up to support other local initiatives. Local groups are made welcome to use the cafe as a venue for their activities, which include a choir, craft group and food bank.

Roots Community Cafe will celebrate their first anniversary on Friday September 14.

Eve said, “We look forward to continuing to serve the community and show God’s love to all who come through our doors. We pray that they will find refuge and peace alongside warmth and laughter at Wymondham Baptist Church.”
