Jeff Lucas at Gorleston church with Searchlight Theatre

International speaker, author and broadcaster Jeff Lucas is coming to Gorleston on November 7 with the Searchlight Theatre Company to bring an evening of sketches, humour, teaching and encouragement based around the New Testament character Barnabas.

Jeff Lucas will be visiting Gorleston for the first time. He reckons everyone can learn to encourage others which is why his book and the evening at St. Andrew’s church in the town is called ‘There are no ordinary people’. He suggests we can all be everyday heroes and can learn so much from Barnabas.

“We all need a bit of encouragement. And we can also encourage others. If encouraging was an Olympic sport, Barnabas would be a champion” says Jeff, “It was Barnabas who got alongside St. Paul, encouraging him to become the great preacher and church planter, and it was Barnabas who accompanied Paul on his early missionary journeys spreading the Gospel.”

‘It should be a great evening of laughter and sketches, but it will be a chance to think and be challenged and encouraged as well,’ says Janet Bowden, organiser of the event.  ‘We are so pleased that Jeff has included us in his autumn tour. He is such a popular speaker and it will be really special to have him and the Searchlight actors on our doorstep.’

Jeff Lucas broadcasts weekly on Premier Christian Radio and writes a monthly column for Christianity magazine. He also writes daily Bible notes which are used by people throughout the UK and other countries. Although British, he is the teaching pastor at a large church in Colorado and divides his time between the US and the UK. He and his wife Kay also lead an annual trip to the Holy Land.

‘Jeff is known for his ability to tackle all kinds of subjects with humour and great honesty. This style of evening will be remembered for a long while.’ said Janet.

‘There Are No Ordinary People’ is taking place at St. Andrew’s Church, Gorleston at 7.15pm on Thursday November 7.

Tickets are £10 in advance (£12 at the door) and are now available from the St. Andrew’s Church Office. Visit :  www.searchlighttheatre.org  or phone 01493 656078.
