Norwich church gives opportunity to paws for blessing

The Norwich church of St George, Colegate is opening its doors to pets for the first time on October 6 for a special service of thanksgiving celebrating animals and the part they play in our lives and within God’s creation.

In July the Norwich church of St George, Colegate welcomed Rev Annie Blyth as their new curate. Annie is a dog owner and pet lover as is the Rector of the Benefice of Colegate and Tombland Fr Alaric Lewis.

With this shared passion, St George’s are planning to open their doors to pets on Sunday, October 6 at 3pm for their first Pet Blessing Service.

Annie said: “Our pets are so important to us because they are part of God’s wonderful creation and greatly loved by God. Of course - they are greatly loved by us too and they also show us how to love each other better. This informal service will give us a chance to be thankful for our pets and the special relationship we have with them.”

You and your pet are very welcome to come along. And if you don’t have a pet feel free to bring a cuddly toy instead.  There will be refreshments after the service for pets and their owners.

Annie said: “Please bring dogs on leads and other pets in their normal carrying cases. Don’t worry if there are any ‘accidents’ – that’s no problem as we will be ready to clear up any accidents that occur.”
