Norwich hospital chaplains offer memorial service

Chaplains at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital are offering those bereaved over the last two years the opportunity to return to the hospital and remember the lives of their loved ones, together with other families that are experiencing the same shared journey.

The annual remembrance service, organised by the chaplaincy team and hospital charity, will be led by the hospital’s head of spiritual care, Adrian Woodbridge, in the site’s chapel together with chief executive Sam Higginson and chief nurse professor Nancy Fontaine.

Rev Woodbridge said: “Each year our Chaplaincy Team holds memorial services to remember those who have died at our hospital. These memorial services are open to people of all religious beliefs or none. They contain a selection of readings, music, poems and quiet reflection as we gather in remembrance of those we love who have sadly died.

“Due to Covid restrictions we have not been able to hold an ‘in person’ service and so this will be our first opportunity.

“Many people have lost loved ones over this last year and each life is precious and leaves loved ones with a sense of emptiness, this service provides an opportunity to return to the hospital and remember their lives together with other families that are experiencing the same shared journey.

The In Memory and Never Forgotten Service of Remembrance 2022 takes place on Saturday, September 10 at 2pm.
