Celebrate and donate from Norfolk's harvest

The Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association, the Norfolk Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs and Norwich Cathedral are teaming up with Norfolk Community Foundation's Nourishing Norfolk to both celebrate Norfolk food and agriculture and to collect food donations for those in need.

An invitation has been extended to the RNAA Harvest Festival Service at Norwich Cathedral, on Sunday October 2 at 3.30pm and, in support of Nourishing Norfolk, food donations can be brought to the service and dropped off at the Mobile Food Bus which will be parked outside the cathedral.

Holly Whitaker, from the RNAA, said: “In the beautiful county of Norfolk, known for agriculture and food production, there are thousands of people struggling to access good quality, affordable food. On top of this, existing food inequalities within society have only widened as a result of the global pandemic.  Nourishing Norfolk works to combat food insecurity and ensure that no-one goes hungry. The RNAA is a key supporter of this project.”

The list of suggested food donation items includes: biscuits, cereal, fruit juice, lentils, beans, pulses, pasta, pasta sauce, rice, soup, tea, coffee, tinned fruit, tinned meat, tinned tomatoes, tinned vegetables, UHT milk.

Alternatively, should you choose to donate on a larger scale please click here to fill out the food pledge card which can be submitted in advance or given to the Mobile Food Bus on the day.  Or donate online today here. The harvest service collection will be donated to Nourishing Norfolk.

This event is run jointly by the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association, the Norfolk Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs and Norwich Cathedral.  Everyone is welcome.

“All are invited to attend the beautiful service and to give thanks for the many blessings that have been bestowed upon each of us and the farming community,” said Holly.

Tea, coffee and cake will be served following the service.
