Join free on line Norfolk food aid workshop

A free online workshop will be held next week to give guidance and share experiences for groups working to help those struggling with food insecurity.

The Good Practice Workshop: Food Aid and Food Distribution in Norfolk will provide an opportunity to hear from the Nourishing Norfolk Network project and other local organisations working to provide affordable, accessible food to communities. It has been set up by the Voluntary Norfolk Communities Team as part of the Empowering Communities partnership.

Across Norfolk there is a growing network of organisations and voluntary groups finding innovative ways to redistribute food within their communities, making sure it gets to those who need it. The current cost of living crisis means increasing demand for food provision and food aid initiatives, and other charities and groups are increasingly looking to signpost individuals or find new ways to collaborate with these food providers.

T?his workshop is a platform for groups tackling food insecurity to share their experiences with other voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations (VCSEs). They will discuss key challenges and opportunities and suggest ways in which other groups can link with this vital work.

S?peakers will include the Nourishing Norfolk Network team about the work they're doing to connect groups across the county and to set up a central Distribution Hub, Norwich-based CIC The Feed will share their experiences of setting up a Social Supermarket and Community Kitchen following the success of a Community Fridge project, the team behind All Saints Mundesley Community Larder, and Norfolk Adult Learning will speak about the range of free cooking courses they offer to community groups.

In breakout rooms there will be opportunity for wider conversation about the opportunities and challenges of food-providing projects and productive ways other community groups and organisations can link and collaborate.

The free on Line workshop will run from 10.30am to 12 noon on Thursday 24 November and is accessible by Mobile eTicket. Click here to book.
