Bike ride raises over £100K for Norfolk churches

The Bishop of Lynn, the Rt Revd Dr Jane Steen, has presented certificates to winners who took part in the Norfolk Churches Trust bike ride in September.

The money raised from the bike ride has now exceeded £100,000. Each year, there are various competitions which take place as part of the event itself. Last month, the Bishop of Lynn, the Rt Revd Dr Jane Steen congratulated some of the winners after a short service at St Mary’s Church in Baconsthorpe.

The Prince of Wales certificate is for the individual who raises the most money. This year’s winner was Harry Steel, a churchwarden in Baconsthorpe. He was awarded his certificate by Bishop Jane at the service, pictured above.

Bishop Jane also presented a cheque for £1000 to the winners of ‘Most Improved Church,’ awarded to Mark Little and Fiona Scott from St Peter’s Church in Brampton. The aim of this award is to recognise the church which has increased the amount of money raised during the bike ride and the cheque is given to a different church each year.

Money raised from the Norfolk Churches Trust bike ride is divided between the Trust and the churches nominated by each participant. Since it started over 30 years, it has raised over £4 million to support churches across Norfolk and Waveney.
