Lowestoft charity offers home to homeless men

Christian homelessness charity the Adam Outreach Project in Lowestoft has supported almost 30 men in the last 18 months in its Hope House.

Most of them have substance abuse issues and an even greater number had physical or mental health needs when they arrived.

Hope House is run to provide a safe environment for men who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and senior manager Ricky Bolden explained what they do.

“We accommodate men between the ages of 25-65 and have 15 furnished rooms. Our aim is to supply a wide range of care, ranging from accompanying residents to appointments, doctors, hospital appointments, setting up bank accounts, obtaining personal ID and helping with money management.

“We also tailor a person-centred care plan by administrating one-to-one key working session, setting achievable goals, and establishing current issues that the residents to work through.

“We support people with addiction/ alcohol and mental health issues, this goes hand-in hand with homelessness along with other root causes such as a relationship breakdowns and financial hardship.

“The main purpose of our vision is to carry the good news of the gospel, that Jesus will meet you wherever you are in life and give you a new fresh start,” said Ricky.
