All Hallows - Julian's own guesthouse in Norwich

A refurbished convent in the centre of Norwich offers comfortable, affordable accommodation with an emphasis on environmentally friendly, simple living.

This unique urban retreat is the perfect place to find space away from it all, in the place where Julian of Norwich lived and wrote.

JulianCellDoor450Following an extensive renovation project, All Hallows House reopened in Summer 2022 as a guesthouse and retreat centre attached to the Julian of Norwich Shrine at St Julian’s Church next door. The former convent has been completely refurbished and offers eight beautiful bedrooms with single, twin and double rooms available. Four of the rooms overlook the secret churchyard garden next door, with views onto Julian of Norwich’s Cell, St Julian’s Church and the cathedral spire beyond.

Bedrooms come equipped with private sink and all are in easy access to shared bath, shower and toilet facilities. As well as a bedroom, guests have access to a wide range of common areas, including our monastic herb garden, private chapel, Julian of Norwich Reference Library and study area, cosy sitting room with log fire, and brand new state-of-the-art self-catering kitchen with communal dining area.

All Hallows Guesthouse aims to provide peaceful, comfortable and restful accommodation to all, without compromising on ethical and environmentally responsible principles. Bedding is made from recycled materials, and all linen is organic cotton. Continental breakfast is provided free with all bookings and includes a range of homemade or locally sourced ingredients, and where possible organic products.

Guests are invited to join the natural rhythms of the house, with daily prayer taking place at St Julian’s next door, as well as candlelit compline services on select evenings throughout the week in the house chapel, the perfect way to close a day. The pace of life at All Hallows is quiet and unhurried, and whether you are looking for community or on the hunt for solitude there is a place for you here.
