Hunstanton fellowship goes on a treasure hunt 

As the weather warms up, The Way Christian Fellowship in Hunstanton is re-starting its weekly treasure hunts for individuals it feels called to connect with.

“A treasure hunt is where we ask God to give us clues for His treasure,” explains Cathy Acott from the church, “that is, those individuals He wants us to connect with that day. We go into the town and look for the clues. 
 
“We offer to pray for these people. No-one is ever rude when approached, and most are happy to be prayed for even if it’s just a blessing. Positive relationships are being built with some of the small retailers and they have allowed team members to pray for their business. In April we are setting up a weekly Prayer Table in the town centre.”
 
She describes the church as a ‘small but mighty group’ which meets in the former magistrates’ court in this seaside town. Although many members of the church are of pensionable age, they are still passionate followers of Jesus.
 
The fellowship is linked with Jonathan and Paige Squirrell of Kingdom Breakthrough. They provide the Leadership Team with spiritual advice, help and prayer support as well as preaching and contributing on Sundays on a quarterly basis. The fellowship enjoys welcoming holiday visitors and second-homers to services and other events, and is happy to see people returning regularly.
 
Once a month there is a Bring and Share service. There is no sermon and members of the congregation are encouraged to bring a word, testimony, scripture or song to bless the church family. This is proving to be very special, and it is often hard to fit all the willing participants into the time available.
 
During the winter months the church took part in the town’s Warm Spaces initiative providing homemade soup and rolls as well as a listening ear to needy visitors. One lady in particular is making steps along her spiritual journey and now attends church regularly. Another needed help with her reading and the church was happy to provide this. It is continuing with a weekly afternoon Open Doors Café which has similar aims.
 
“We believe in, and have seen, Father God bring physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.,” said Cathy. “There is always time during, or at the end of, each Sunday service for people to receive prayer if required. Recently, most of the congregation were queueing and it was exciting to see Holy Spirit meeting individuals where they needed Him most. Where longer ministry sessions are needed, arrangements are made with the ministry team.
