Join Norwich pastor's walk against human trafficking

The Associate Pastor of Proclaimers Church is encouraging Christians to take part in the A21 Walk For Freedom across Norwich on October 14 to raise funds and awareness of human trafficking.

On Saturday, October 14, Norwich will host its fourth Walk For Freedom, along with hundreds of cities across 50 nations, participating in the global anti-human trafficking fundraising and awareness campaign.

Operated by The A21 Campaign, the 2017 Walk For Freedom will see people dressed in black, walking silently, in single file, in locations including beneath the Eiffel Tower, along the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as well as through Norwich city centre — united in a desire to abolish slavery in a world where millions are enslaved as a result of the $150-billion human trafficking industry, with only 1% of victims ever being rescued.

Gemma Neill, the Norwich Walk for Freedom organiser and Associate Pastor of Proclaimers Church said: “Human trafficking is an issue much closer to us than we often realise. It’s a Norwich issue, as well as a global atrocity, yet so many people are unaware of the scale of the problem which is why raising awareness is so important in tackling what is happening to these men, women and children”.

Research by the National Crime Agency earlier this year identified that human trafficking is ‘far more prevalent’ than previously estimated and ‘effects every large town and city in the UK’.

Christine Caine, A21’s founder and an international evangelist, said: “Walk For Freedom is definitely one of the most impacting things that we do at A21. It is a tangible, practical, and doable thing for every single person. All of us can put our feet on the pavement and use our steps to make a difference.”

The Norwich Walk For Freedom will start from Chapelfield Gardens at 10.30amTo register for the Norwich event click here.
