7000 youngsters in Norfolk for Christian event

NewDayJoelVirgoWeb2010: August 11 sees the return of summer Christian youth event Newday to the Norfolk Showground near Norwich. This year – the seventh Newday has taken place – will see around 7000 young people from all over the UK and beyond coming together to meet with God.
This will be the second Newday held at the Norfolk Showground. Teenagers from all over the country will gather for a week of camping, friendship, worship, biblical teaching, and the chance to really explore the Christian faith and its relevance to young people in the twenty-first century.
Another key part of the Newday experience is the opportunity for the delegates to put their faith into action, with over 3500 taking part in various projects including fence painting, litter picking, car washes, fun days, and other ‘hands-on’ projects working with numerous local churches, councils, community groups and the police.
Joel Virgo, Senior Pastor at Church of Christ the King in Brighton, heads up the Newday team, and will be kicking off the week on Wednesday night. Also speaking this year is Adrian Holloway, author of Christian bestseller The Shock of Your Life.
Worship will be led by Matt Redman, Lou Fellingham and Phatfish and new young talents Jordan Dillon and Jules Burt
NewDayKidsWebNewday also includes an ever growing programme of entertainment including gigs from; The Rend Collective Experiment, Tom & Olly, LZ7, Dweeb and The Gentlemen. Numerous cafes such as Café Retro, Café Froth, the Global Café and The Rhythm Factory featuring urban artists like Victizzle, Faith Child and Guvna B. We also have extensive creative arts activities alongside, sports, dodgems, a skate park, climbing wall and much, much more.
Online bookings are still being taken and day tickets can be purchased on site during the event, at £22 for a whole day; £12 a half and £6 for overnight camping.
Network Norfolk will be carrying a series of reports from both the main site and from some social action projects during the week.
