Norfolk Christian football set for youth finals

The Norfolk Christian Football League youth season will finish this Saturday, May 18, with two youth cup finals taking place.

In the U12 final, Soul Church Strikers U12 will play Sprowston Youth Engagement Project (SYEP) U12. In the league the two teams finished level on points and also on goal difference, with Soul winning the league by scoring more goals than SYEP, so a very close finish to the season

In the U14 final, the same two clubs will also be represented with SYEP the more comfortable league winners against second-placed Soul Church.

The under 12 and 14 cup finals will take place at Thorpe High School (NR7 OXS) – 3G pitch, starting at 10am and ending by 12 noon.

League deputy chair, Mike Culwick, said: “It was a successful and enjoyable season despite so very few teams with games played in a good spirit and the lads were a credit to their managers and to the league and we hope they will continue into next season with hopefully more teams entering the league.

“We are expecting quite a crowd of supporters and after the games the trophies and medals will be presented.

“We will have a donation bucket at the entrance to the pitch to raise financial support for the Christian league. With the number of youth teams drastically reduced very recently, the league will struggle to survive financially, so any support would be much appreciated.”
