An ecumenical bereavement service in King's Lynn

An ecumenical partnership between the Quakers and Methodists in King's Lynn is running to provide free bereavement support and counselling

Amongst the variety of outreach and community activities which happen at the King's Lynn Quaker house is a group called Companions in Bereavement.

Companions in Bereavement are a group of qualified bereavement support workers in King's Lynn who are holding walk-ins and individual counselling by arrangement.  These sessions are held every Friday between 10.00am to 12.00pm at the Quaker Meeting House, 36 Bridge Street, King's Lynn, PE30 5AB.
We are Quakers who attends Kings Lynn Meeting, and we take an active part in
Caz Thompson, one of the Quakers involved, says:

“This group is staffed and run by a team of us who are CRUSE Bereavement Care trained and NACP accredited.  We have many years of bereavement counselling experience between us and we are an Ecumenical group comprising Quakers and Methodists. This service is completely free as costs such as Insurance and rental hire is underwritten by individual contributions and the Quakers.”

Dr Ian Watson, County Ecumenical Officer for Churches Together in Norfolk and Waveney (NWCT) says: “NWCT is pleased to promote this excellent ecumenical initiative.  As Quakers are not particularly known for publicising their work, many people may not be aware of the existence of this free and important bereavement service in the heart of the community of King's Lynn. I know they have been up and running for a while.  They have successfully helped a wide range of people, those of faith and those without, and are on the the King's Lynn Council Social Prescribing list and LILY referrals list.”
